HUL'S SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH PROJECT CONTRIBUTES TO PROMOTING THE VALUE OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY WITH GEOGRAPHICAL ELEMENTS, SERVING SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNITY
Update day: 08-11-2022The provincial humanities and social science research project on “Research for solution proposals to establish, manage, exploit and promote intellectual property with geographical elements in Quang Ngai province” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Luong (Rector) has recently tested and accepted with many scienctific products, including:
- 05 registration dossiers for Certification marks and Collective marks protection; 05 Certificate of trademark registration issued by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (03 Collective marks of Mam Nhum Sa Huynh, Don Nghia Hoa and Duong Phen Nghia Dung, 02 Certified trademarks of Ba To Tourism and Duc Pho Tourism);
- The Planning map of the geographical area where the intellectual property is registered for protection approved by the National Office of Intellectual Property for registration;
- 01 Manual for intellectual property protection and exploitation with the Quang Ngai geographical elements;
- 01 Proceedings of the provincial scientific conference;
- 01 Website to promote Quang Ngai’s brand (demo version) at: nhanhieuquangngai.com;
- 01 Documentary film.
It can be said that the 2 tourism trademarks are the first certification marks associated with Quang Ngai province’s tourism.
The project leader awarded the Certificate of Duc Pho Tourism Certificated Mark and the Collective mark of Mam Nhum Sa Huynh to the People's Committee of Duc Pho District
The research results are transferred to the People's Committees of districts with protected trademarks/marks, commune-level authorities, the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Ngai province and people in need. The research team will coordinate with the People's Committees of districts and communes with protected geographical elements to train and transfer to people how to maintain, exploit and promote the value of intellectual property with geographical elements in Quang Ngai associated with mining activities in tourism. The website’s administration right and guide for use will be transferred to relevant Departments. The Districts’ People's Committees will coordinate to update information, upload images and activities to enhance the value of local intellectual property.
The project’s results have many great contributions to:
- Develop guidelines and policies of Quang Ngai province
- Supplement research and reference material source for proposing solutions to establish, manage, exploit and promote intellectual property associated with geographical elements;
- Attract organizations and individuals’ attention froom all economic sectors with production, business and service activities in the province to study and apply certificated intellectual property.
- Spread intellectual property activities throughout the province, creating a suitable direction for localities and specialized agencies in implementing activities to support communities and businesses to create and develop intellectual property associated with tourism activities as well as exploit economic potentials in the process of managing and promoting local intellectual property.

On behalf of the beneficiary, Mr. Nguyen Hoanh Son - Chairman of Pho Chau Agricultural Cooperative, Pho Chau Commune, Duc Pho Town excitedly said: “To this special day, after Sa Huynh Nhum Fish Sauce was granted the collective trademark certificate, I am very happy. Thus, our Cooperative has owned 02 certificated collective trademark until now, Nep Ngu Sa Huynh and Sa Huynh Nhum Fish Sauce. In the future, we together with the University of Law, Hue University will continue to register for the Sa Huynh Watermelon Collective Trademark’s protection. I as well as Quang Ngai people are very grateful to the research team and the government for creating conditions for us to improve the value of specialties in Sa Huynh land, creating livelihoods for local people”.
