The Ceremony for the Announcement and Presentation of the Decision to Recognize Cuu Long University as a Member of the Vietnamese Law School Network
Update day: 12-08-2024On August 12, 2024, at Cuu Long University, National Route 1A, Phu Quoi Commune, Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province, the ceremony for the announcement of the decision to recognize Cuu Long University as a member of the Vietnamese Law School Network (VLSN) took place. In attendance from the University of Law, Hue University—Chair of the Network of Legal Training Institutions in Vietnam—were: Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Party Secretary and Rector of the University of Law, Hue University, and Chair of the Network’s Executive Committee for the 2024-2026 term; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, Deputy Party Secretary and Vice Rector; Dr. Cao Dinh Lanh, Head of the Department of Science, Technology and International Cooperation; Dr. Nguyen Tai Nang, Head of the Planning and Finance Department; Dr. Nguyen Son Ha, Head of the Academic Quality Assurance and Examination Department; Dr. Tran Viet Long, Head of the Academic Affairs Department; Master Huynh Tay, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hue University School of Law; and Master Tran Cao Thanh, Secretary of the Network.
Representing the members of the Executive Committee of the VLSN in Vietnam was Dr. Cao Nhat Linh, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at Can Tho University.
Attendees from Cuu Long University included: Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dung, Vice Rector; Dr. Tran Van Than, Head of the Department of Scientific Management; Master Lawyer Pham Khac Phuong, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Dr. Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law; Master Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Head of the Administrative and Human Resources Department; Master Le Thi Loc Mai, Head of the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance; Master Dang Van Toai, Head of the Department of Training Management; Master Thai Thi Hien, Secretary of the Student Union; and Master Tran Chi Cong, Lecturer at the Faculty of Law and Secretary.
In his welcoming speech, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dung, Vice Rector of Cuu Long University, expressed his pleasure in hosting the delegation representing the Executive Committee, welcoming their visit and meeting with Cuu Long University. He provided an overview of the university, highlighting its achievements over 24 years of development. He noted that the university has received national quality accreditation and has been honored by various political organizations and international bodies with prestigious awards, including the Golden Symbol of Vietnamese Human Resources, the Golden Brand of Vietnam 2020, the Golden Quality Product and Service for Consumer Rights 2020, Top 10 Vietnamese Brands 2020, the record for the largest solar power plant at a Vietnamese university, Top 20 Golden Brands 2024, Top 100 Most Worthwhile Universities in Vietnam, and the Third-Class Labor Medal, awarded by the Presidents of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
On behalf of the Executive Committee Chair, the Network Secretary announced the decision to recognize Cuu Long University as a member of the VLSN in Vietnam. Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Chair of the Executive Committee, presented the recognition decision and membership certificate to the representative of Cuu Long University, in the presence of staff and faculty from both institutions.
In his congratulatory speech, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Luong affirmed the Network’s consistent policy of creating favorable conditions for its members, providing opportunities for exchange, collaboration, and mutual development. He also gave a brief overview of the Network’s history and growth, noting that the VLSN currently has 66 member institutions, including 8 new members. Cuu Long University is the 61st institution to receive the Membership Certificate. He expressed hope that Cuu Long University would actively participate in the Network’s activities, as outlined in the 2024 operational plan. Furthermore, he suggested key initiatives that Cuu Long University and Hue University School of Law could pursue, such as student exchanges, organizing international conferences, and publishing textbooks and research materials.
The two institutions engaged in discussions about their respective strengths and fields of expertise, exploring potential collaborations between them as well as with other VLSN members in the future.
On this occasion, the two institutions also signed a comprehensive bilateral cooperation agreement covering activities related to training, scientific research, student exchange, and community service.
The ceremony for the announcement and presentation of the membership decision to Cuu Long University was a significant event, marking an important milestone in the development of the Network and the cooperation between the two institutions.
