HUE UNIVERSITY OF LAW WORKS WITH THE WILLEM POMPE INSTITUTE FOR CRIMINAL LAW AND CRIMINOLOGY, UTRECHT UNIVERSITY (THE NETHERLANDS)
Update day: 10-03-2026On the morning of March 10, 2026, University of Law, Hue University hosted a working session with Professor Dina Siegel from the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology, Utrecht University (the Netherlands) to exchange and discuss opportunities for cooperation in education and scientific research in the field of law.
Attending the program, on the side of the international partner was Professor Dina Siegel – Director of the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology, Utrecht University, the Netherlands.
On the side of University of Law, Hue University is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Luong, President of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duy Phuong, former Vice President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Kien, Dean of the Faculty of Criminal Law, together with leaders of units and lecturers of the University.
In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Luong expressed his pleasure in welcoming Professor Dina Siegel to visit and work at Hue University of Law, Hue University. The Rector emphasized that in recent years, Hue University of Law has always paid attention to expanding international cooperation, especially with reputable educational and research institutions around the world, aiming at enhancing training quality, promoting scientific research, and advancing international academic integration.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged and shared information about the training programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels of each institution; discussed potential directions for cooperation in the coming time simultaneously, including organizing academic exchanges, teaching and research activities between lecturers and scholars of both sides.
In addition, the two sides also discussed possibilities for short-term and long-term cooperation, such as organizing international conferences and academic seminars, establishing joint research groups in the field of criminal law and criminology, as well as orientations to promote research and international publications.
For her part, Professor Dina Siegel appreciated the development of Hue University of Law in legal education and research, and expressed her hope that both sides would continue to strengthen academic connections and expand cooperative programs in the coming time.
That same afternoon, a signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between the Faculty of Criminal Law and the Willem Pompe Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology, Utrecht University (the Netherlands) took place. Within the framework of the working program, Professor Dina Siegel also delivered a thematic lecture entitled “Orientation for studying and researching criminology and criminal justice: from a Dutch perspective” for students of the University.
At the thematic session, Professor Dina Siegel shared experiences and research approaches in the field of criminology and criminal justice in the Netherlands, and at the same time suggested many research orientations, academic approaches and international cooperation opportunities for lecturers, graduate students and students interested in this field.
