On the morning of March 20, 2026, the Vietnam Law School Network, in collaboration with the University of Law, Hue University and Duy Tan University, organized a conference entitled “Legal Education in the Current Context” in Da Nang City.

Attending the Conference was Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, former Director General of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and Training.

Representing the Executive Board of the Vietnam Law School Network were Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Rector of the University of Law, Hue University and Head of the Network’s Executive Board; Dr. Chu Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi Law University; Associate Professor Dr. Le Vu Nam, Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh, Vice Rector of the University of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Associate Professor Dr. Bui Anh Thuy, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Van Lang University; and Associate Professor Dr. Phan Trung Hien, Dean of the School of Law, Can Tho University.

Representing the host institution were Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, Vice President of Duy Tan University; Dr. Hoang Thi Huong, Rector of the School of Languages, Humanities and Social Sciences; together with heads and deputy heads of offices and units of Duy Tan University.

The Conference was also attended by numerous scholars and administrators in the field of legal education, including Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Song, Rector of Mien Dong University of Technology; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhung, Rector of Hanoi Open University; Dr. Hoang Xuan Chau, Vice Rector of Hanoi Law University; Associate Professor Dr. Le Van Long, Vice Rector of Nam Can Tho University; Dr. Le Anh Van, Vice Rector of Thai Binh Duong University; Dr. Hoang Anh Tuyen, Vice Rector of the Procuracy University; Dr. Bui Thi Ha, Deputy Director of the Judicial Academy; Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Border Guard Academy; M.A. Ha Thi Thanh Van, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Women’s Academy; Dr. Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Court Academy; along with leaders and lecturers from more than 50 law institutions nationwide. The Conference also drew the attention of press and media agencies in Da Nang City, which attended and covered the event.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Luong, Rector of the University of Law, Hue University and Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Law School Network, emphasized that in the context of deep international integration, the demand for high-quality legal human resources is increasing, posing numerous challenges for law training institutions. He therefore stressed the necessity of strengthening academic exchange and sharing educational experience among institutions in order to improve training quality and meet practical and labor market demands.

In the first working session, Dr. Chu Manh Hung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Hanoi Law University, presented the introductory report, raising a number of important issues related to curriculum reform, teaching methods, faculty development, and the requirements of international integration in legal education.

Speaking at the Conference, Dr. Tran Nhat Tan, Vice President of Duy Tan University, expressed his honor at co-organizing a meaningful academic event for the field of legal education, while affirming the university’s desire to strengthen cooperation among training institutions in order to enhance the quality of legal education and research.

Within the framework of the program, many in-depth presentations were delivered and discussed enthusiastically. Opening the presentation session, Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, former Director General of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and Training, delivered a presentation entitled “Challenges in Legal Education in Vietnam Today,” analyzing new requirements for training programs and for the competencies of law students amid the transformation of the higher education system.

Continuing the program, Associate Professor Dr. Dao Mong Diep, Dean of the Faculty of Economic Law, University of Law, Hue University, presented a paper on “Teaching Methods, Skills and Practical Training in Legal Education to Meet Program Standards under Decision No. 678 and Current Labor Market Requirements,” emphasizing the role of linking theory with practice in legal education.

In addition, several other specialized presentations focused on key issues in contemporary legal education. Notable examples included the presentation “International Publication in the Field of Law - Opportunities and Challenges,” delivered on behalf of the research team by Associate Professor Dr. Mai Van Thang, Head of the Office of Science and Technology, Development Cooperation and Quality Assurance, VNU University of Law; the presentation “Improving the Quality of Faculty Members in Legal Education Today,” delivered by Dr. Dau Cong Hiep, Deputy Director of the Legal Practice Center, Hanoi Law University; and the presentation “Opportunities and Challenges in Legal Education at Multi-disciplinary Universities Today” delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Phan Trung Hien, Dean of the School of Law, Can Tho University. These presentations provided multi-dimensional perspectives and suggested practical solutions for legal education in the new context.

During the discussion session, delegates exchanged views on curriculum reform, strengthening practical professional skills for students, promoting scientific research and international publication, and developing faculty members capable of meeting the demands of integration and transformation in higher education.

The Conference on “Legal Education in the Current Context” created an important academic forum for law training institutions across the country to share experience, strengthen connections and cooperation, and contribute to improving the quality of legal training for high-quality human resources serving the country’s development in the new era.
