Overview

On January 26, 2000, the Faculty of Law was established under the University of Sciences, Hue University, as per  Decision No. 020/QD-DHH-TCNS issued by the Director of Hue University. The Faculty of Law comprised three departments: the Department of Administrative–State Law, the Department of Private  Civil Law, and the Department of Economic-International Law. Subsequently, on August 19, 2009, the Director of Hue University, through Decision No. 868/QD-DHH-TCNS, separated the Faculty of Law from the University of Sciences, Hue University. The Department of Economic and International Law remained one of the three departments within the newly established Faculty of Law under Hue University. Fast forward to March 3, 2015, when the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 274/QD-TTg, officially launching the University of Law under Hue University. Simultaneously, the Department of Economic and International Law transformed into the Faculty of Economic Law and the Faculty of International Law. Further cementing this change, on April 3, 2015, the Rector of the University of Law, Hue University, issued Decision No. 16/QD-DHL, formally establishing the Faculty of International Law under the University of Law, Hue University.

The Faculty of International Law is an academic unit with a rich tradition and a track record of achievements within the University of Law, Hue University. Our core missions involve training, researching, and providing advice services in various fields of law, including international law and international trade law, among others. In recent years, the Faculty of International Law has made significant strides in expanding its teaching and research teams to address the growing demand for skilled legal professionals in the Central region, Central Highlands, and the entire country.

The Faculty of International Law consists of two departments:

1. Department of Public International Law: This unit offers courses in International Law, International Maritime Law, International Environmental Law, International Economic Law, Law of the ASEAN Community, Legal aspects of the World Trade Organization, and Resolution of Maritime Disputes.

2. Department of International Commercial - Comparative Law: This unit offers courses in International Commercial Law, Comparative Law, International Investment Law, Law on International Commercial Contracts, Dispute Resolution in International Trade among merchants, International Commercial Arbitration

Functions & Tasks

The Faculty of International Law fulfills two fundamental roles: teaching and academic research. Faculty members are responsible for a range of tasks, including:

1. Developing curriculum and delivering instruction in legal modules related to international trade law, international law, and comparative jurisprudence for undergraduate students enrolled in the University of Law, Hue University,

2. Contributing to designing and implementing master's and doctoral programs in Economic Law as outlined by the University's training curriculum. Faculty members also guide students in their research endeavors, final internships, and thesis writing, including supporting graduate students in selecting and completing master's theses in Economic Law.

3. The Faculty of International Law contributes to compiling textbooks, learning materials, and case studies designed to facilitate teaching the modules it supervises. In addition, lecturers also participate in many domestic and international research projects.

Department's Orientation

Our primary goal is to uphold the Faculty's rich legacy in teaching and scholarly pursuits.

We are committed to enhancing the quality of our faculty members by improving their professional expertise and foreign language proficiency. It is essential to meet the demands of teaching, research, and international collaboration in International Law. We also aim to bolster our faculty by recruiting more doctoral-level lecturers, augmenting our pool of high-caliber educators.

We will persist in researching and innovating our practice-oriented teaching content and methods. Our objective is to provide learners with comprehensive professional knowledge, practical skills, and foreign language proficiency that align with the evolving needs of society.

We will continue to expand our international network . This includes sustaining and expanding collaborative endeavors in teaching, researching, and organizing academic forums with universities and research centers worldwide.
(Notable entities and individuals within our collaborative network include RECITAL - Research Center for International Transactions and Law at Doshisha University in Japan, as well as Professors Takasugi, Anselmo Reyes, and Irene Kull from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tartu in Estonia)
