The Faculty of Criminal Law was established in April 2015. The Faculty of Criminal Law currently has 11 lecturers, including 01 Associate Professor, 04 Doctors, 07 Masters, 01 PhD student abroad. Regarding the organizational structure, the Faculty includes faculty leaders, assistants and two departments: Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law.

Overview

Functions and Tasks

The Faculty of Criminal Law is entrusted with performing two basic functions including: (1) Participating in training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Master, Doctorate); (2) Carrying out scientific research activities for contributing to realizing the University’s missions..

Regarding teaching, the Faculty is responsible for teaching 11 compulsory and optional modules and topics.

The Faculty's main goal for students: equip students with basic knowledge about society, the current legal system and basic skills in solving simple legal situations. Therefore, the Bachelor of Laws training program with a specialization in criminal law is designed in such a way that in addition to the compulsory courses, there are also a series of optional courses which is suitable to the future career of students. The Faculty aims to train students majoring in criminal law who will work in law enforcement agencies such as Courts, Procuracy, Investigation agencies, Inspectorates, Judgment Enforcement agencies and some other agencies that are not part of the law enforcement such as Lawyers, legal consulting offices, or some other administrative and non-business agencies.

Regarding scientific research, from 2015 up to now, the lecturers of Faculty have complete various scientific research tasks, with more than 50 articles published in domestic journals, more than 5 international articles have been published; There are 1 ministerial-level research and 4 Hue University-level researchs that have been successfully defended as well as 5 textbooks serving research, teaching and learning activities. The Faculty has also organized University-level, national-level and international research conferences.

Regarding connection and support for learners, the Faculty of Criminal Law not only attracts students with its lively and interesting subjects but also has a team of lecturers who are dedicated to their profession and enthusiastic about helping students. Lecturers have built a scholarship fund for students in difficult circumstances and students with high academic achievements. Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the Faculty of Criminal Law has created many interesting playgrounds for students. Students of the Faculty, after graduating, have been able to promote their professional abilities in working in the Courts, Procuracy, Investigation, Execution as well as other agencies and are all highly appreciated by labor agencies for professional capacity and ethical conduct. They are gradually maturing in their careers. This is an honor and a great source of encouragement for the Faculty of Criminal Law.

Future development

In the coming time, the Faculty will continue to build and strengthen a team of professionally qualified teaching staff with good foreign language skills to meet international integration needs. The Faculty of Criminal Law aims to open a graduate training major in Criminal Law in the period 2022-2025, cooperate internationally on scientific research, and complete projects at the ministerial level and other higher levels; Compiling and publishing textbooks to serve the study and research of criminal law, continuing to increase the number of international publications.

In addition, the Faculty continues to organize and carry out in-depth research on criminal law, criminal procedure law, and criminology.

Department of criminal law

The majors undertaken by the department include:

Criminal Law 1, Criminal Law 2, Criminology, Theory of Crime, Criminal Law of some countries around the world and a number of other mandatory topics in the Criminal Law major. In addition, the Department also teaches the topic of Criminal Responsibility in business for Graduates.

Department of criminal procedure law

Majors taught by the Department include:

Criminal Procedure Law, Criminal Investigation Science, Criminal Judgment Execution Law, Judicial Psychology, Human Rights in the criminal justice and a number of other mandatory topics in the Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure.
