Overview
The Centre for Information and Library, formerly known as the Library Group under the Department of Organization - Administration, Faculty of Law, Hue University, now operates as an affiliated unit of the University of Law, Hue University. Accompanying the development process of the University of Law, Hue University on the basis of upgrading the Faculty of Law, on April 3, 2015, the Centre for Information and Library was established according to the Rector’s Decision No. 12/QD-DHL.
The Centre for Information and Library is now located on the 5th floor of the administration building at the University’s campus. This is truly a convenient place for students, learners and lecturers to look up materials. The Center is equipped with a modern computer and materials system allowing searching for curriculum information, materials and other kinds of academic data via the internet.
Functions and tasks
I. Functions
The core function of the Center is to provide information and library services. Results from the Center's activities aim to effectively serve the University’s training, scientific research, legal propaganda and consultancy, and management activities. The function is realized through the collection, exploitation, and use of information and documents sources at the Center as well as the linked database from other libraries (if any), contributing to the University’s performance of political and training tasks.
II. Tasks
1. Advise the Rector on the development of long-term and short-term plans for information and library activities; Organizing and coordinating the entire information, documentation and library system within the University; Implementing training programs for staff in the library field;
2. Supplement and develop domestic and foreign information resources to meet the needs of teaching, learning, scientific researching and legal consulting; Receiving, storing and disseminating the University’s documents.
3. Process, arrange, store, preserve and manage documents and information; Building a modern information lookup system; Establishing an automated information search and access network; Building and managing databases and collections; Compiling information publications according to the relevant regulations.
4. Develop the reading culture within the University; Implementing the training, instruction, testing, and guidance activities for readers to access, exploit, and effectively use information and document sources as well as library and information products and services.
5. Research and apply advanced scientific and technological achievements, standards for library and information processing as well as applications of information technology in library activities; Expanding cooperation with domestic and international entities in the field of library and information.
